Keeping the information clean
A strategy and process for maintaining the accuracy
of your firm’s information is a vital part of successful database
implementation. The earlier stages of identifying what information
is held and required and then building that data are in danger of
being wasted if there is no long-term strategy for keeping that
information up to date.
There are a variety of methods that can be used
to maintain the data. Your firm will need to define the right mix
of these in accordance with their marketing objectives and budget.
In order to do this, there needs to be an understanding of how the
new data set will be used and by whom, noting such information as
those who have read-only access and those with edit-access. A data
maintenance plan can then be drawn up which will detail the mechanisms
and processes that should be followed.
